Benita’s wedding was everything she had dreamt of. Wedded to Jayesh, their wedding celebrations were everything that a big fat Indian wedding should be. Filled with vibrancy, vivaciousness and a all too familiar “love is in the air” atmosphere their pre- wedding events and wedding were functions to be remembered and forever cherished by all.
Sweet beginnings:
“We met when we were 16, we became friends and spoke almost everyday. In time our friendship eventually turned in something more”, shares Benita. ” We dated for many years and had the same interests which only brought us closer. We love fine dining and outdoor activities such as hot air ballooning or skydiving. “
Little did we know, but our paths were always crossing from the time we were kids. So, I guess you can say it was destiny for us to meet and fall in love.
The proposal:
“In 2016, my Granny passed away and her last wish to Jayesh was that we get married. In 2017, Jayesh took me to a beautiful temple by the river, where we scattered my Ma’s ashes so I could light a Divo and tell her we will be getting traditionally engaged in a few days (Mithu Muru) ,” explains Benita.
“Little did I know, he decided to surprise with me another proposal!”, Benita exclaimed. “He took me to a beautiful lodge where a picnic was set up beside a flowing river. He got down on one knee to asked me to marry him. It was so thoughtful and romantic! “

In 2018 ,on 4th of March we got married, and in 2020 I gave birth to our first son who is our world.

Planning D-day:
“Planning the big day was no easy task, we both knew what we wanted and wanted our love to be united in a way that meant something for us. ” We decided we wanted an outdoor wedding as it represented us. We visited many outdoor venues and finally decided on Sun Valley wedding and Golf resort.
This venue was so perfect as it was green, lush and felt right as we were driving in.

It took us one year to plan the wedding because I am a producer and a perfectionist. I made a contact list, schedule etc so that the day would go off without a hitch. The day came and everything just fell into place. We were calm and just enjoyed the wedding day.
The bridal trousseau:
For me what we wore was very important, so I went to India with my Dad to meet with my parent’s designer. My family owns Chandra bridal showroom which means I had access to an amazing designer who would custom made our wedding outfits.
Once in a life time moments:
“I think the most special part of the wedding was when the veil dropped and we saw each for the first time. The reaction on both our faces made all the guests tear up.”

Advice for brides and grooms to be:
I think the advice I would give other couples is ,”Do what feels is right for you and don’t take it too seriously. Just enjoy the day. It goes by so fast.” , says Benita.
