Melisha and Tavendhren

It started off on social media. I made the first move by contacting Melisha on Facebook. At the time, the popular thing was,” Can I have your BBM pin?”

We began with modest beginnings when we first started dating. Melisha and I had our first jobs in retail whilst pursuing tertiary education. We did not have much for extravagant dates or to spoil each other with.

It was the simple things like sharing a waffle at Milky Lane. We just focused on each other. Our goals, aspirations, what we want out of life and our religion. It set the foundation for our relationship which is in its 11th year.

Planning our wedding should have been a piece of cake. Due to Melisha and I coming from broken homes, facilitating a gathering of this size and significance was not for the faint hearted.

.

It took many family meetings, tears and checklists but at the end everyone came through to show us love and support on our big day. It brought a smile to our faces!

..

It’s important to be yourself around each other and focus on meaningful experiences as a couple. Growing together in our careers and financially has strengthened our relationship and made us courageous in the face of adversity.

Living together before tying the knot helps to discover new perspectives of each other.
