Initially, I had stalked Nikhil on Instagram for hours! Later, we met through a mutual friend. After months of flirting and dinner dates, Nikhil finally mustered the courage to ask me out- with my friends’ blessings, of course!
We dated for a year, and he proposed the following year in our home on New Year’s Day in 2022.
Nikhil and I decided to legally get married and exchange our vows in a church that February. We planned to have a traditional wedding which celebrated our respective cultures in November 2022.
We had a non-traditional wedding. I am Tamil and Nikhil is Hindi. Our goal was to incorporate customs from both our cultures as far as possible.
Planning our wedding became effortless after we decided that we wanted an intimate gathering which just included a few close family and friends.
There were times when I wanted to throw my guest list folder at Nikhil but eventually with help from our family, every detail fell into place.
The best part of our wedding was our pre-wedding photoshoot.
Not only did Nikhil see me for the first time before the wedding but we had a whole lot of fun before striking serious faces at the ceremony.
