As fate would have it, a chance encounter at a friend’s birthday party led to us talking. After the first conversation, we recognised a warmth in each other’s soul and whether we knew it or not, it marked the beginning of the rest of our lives.
Coincidence, destiny or luck, whatever you call it, this was meant to be.
While we were courting, Shaur would send me the most romantic quotes from books he read, bring me home-cooked meals he prepared himself and drive all the way from his home in traffic just to see me for a few minutes.
We decided to keep our wedding simple but elegant. Planning our wedding was a breeze to get through. Wheeew, no drama! Just laughs! We designed and created the invitations and welcome boards together on our laptop at home- all by ourselves!
What was really cool is that we went down memory lane whilst going through all our old pictures for the events, laughing and getting carried away by the memories.
Shaur knew exactly the design I wanted and did extensive research to find what would make me happy.
Many iterations later, he chopped and changed things and even if it was the most minor detail that I wanted changed, he would do it all without a complaint.
Shaur bought me a promise ring on our very first dating anniversary in 2018 even though we had just started working and really didn’t have the money to do so.
When he proposed, he replaced the promise ring with my gorgeous engagement ring. At that point, I just looked back and realized that every promise he made, he fulfilled and exceeded any expectation I’ve ever had.
Shaur couldn’t hold back his excitement the day before he proposed and by accident had let some details out. That was really fun, prying and asking for more details. This made the surprise even sweeter!

Advice for brides and grooms to be: Don’t overcomplicate things, plan everything down to the tee. Allocate specific tasks to specific people. Get reliable service providers and just smile!
