I had just moved to Johannesburg from Durban in 2015. I was not aware at the time but it turned out the flat I was renting was owned by Kuben’s aunt. You know how the aunties always want to introduce you to someone they know, who is supposedly “the perfect guy” for you.
Back then I did not believe in looking for or finding the perfect guy. So Kuben’s aunt reached out a number of times about this “perfect guy she” had for me. About a year later, I agreed to meet him for dinner.
The one thing that stood out to me on our first date was how much of a gentleman he was and how easy the conversation flowed.
I know this is going to sound ‘cheesy’ but on that warm and beautiful Thursday evening of 28th January 2016, I met my version of the perfect guy in Kuben.
They say, “When you know you know.” And in my heart, I knew he was the one!
The 6th of June 2022 is a day that will be etched in my heart forever. I could relive every moment of the build up to our wedding as well our wedding day.
The sugar cane fields, with the most beautiful sunset, created the perfect ambiance. It felt as if we’d been transported to the paddy rice fields of South India.
My personal favourite part of my wedding day was the tying of the mangalyam. Then having our parents on stage with us,the melodious carnatic music playing in the background and our close family and friends present to share the special moment with us.
Our day was everything I envisioned, my South Indian vision turned into reality. To the love of my life Kuben, you made the planning of this beautiful day an absolute breeze!
