Shalen and I met on a social media when we were teens. We dated for 10 years before deciding to tie the knot.
Every woman dreams of having a fairytale wedding and I did too! Shalen and I faced many trials when finalizing our wedding date and had many set backs due to COVID. After some time, Shalen and I were able to set a date.

We planned our dream wedding in four months.
Planning our wedding was honestly daunting and simultaneously the best part of it all! We paid special attention to our center pieces, decor and wedding attire. Our goal was to celebrate and honour our cultural backgrounds.

Our wedding ceremony was both a traditional Tamil and Telugu wedding. Shalen and I were mindful of each others’ culture when planning our big day.

We particularly made effort to understand Tamil and Telegu culture and have both incorporated into our nuptials. Understanding rituals from both cultures was a labourious affair, however it was of utmost importance to us to have our wedding ceremony conducted by the book.

Our wedding day was eventful to say the least. We had extremely bad weather and as a result had to postpone our wedding photoshoot to another day. Just as we thought the day couldn’t get any worse we had loadshedding as our wedding begun. I literally felt like crying!

God put us through many challenges as a couple. Despite it all, when we saw each our on our wedding day we knew everything was 100% worth it.

For as long as I can remember I dreamt of marrying my best friend, now husband. It’s the best and most beautiful part of our lives. We would give anything to re-live this experience.

My most special memory was when my teary-eyed husband saw me dressed as a bride, it made me feel that it was worth the wait.

To soon to be brides and grooms, remember that communication is key. Sharing your likes and dislikes and being able to compromise is important. Everyone has a different experience when planning their big day. Embrace it. Always remember that it’s your day!
